hi, my name is frank. my nephew just gave me his 1997 qx4. he tried to jump start it , but crossed the jumper cables. now i can't get it to jump start. if anyone know's what happened , or know what i need to do to get it to take a hot shot i would really appreciate it !! thank's !!!

You probably melted a fusible link. See page EL-18 of the factory service manual for their location. Replace if required, and check all other fuses as well.

You may have also blown the diodes in the alternator. That won't keep it from starting but it won't charge the
battery and might die when you disconnect the jumper cables.

look's like the 100 amp battery fusable link is bad. does it pullout ?
