I just saw the Charles Fried endorsed Obama. I'm curious to hear some thoughts on why Obama has garnered so many prominent cross-party endorsements and why the dearth of such endorsements for McCain. I realize that many feel that McCain lacks true conservative credentials, but I can't imagine these people believe that a McCain administration would be less fiscally or socially conservative than an Obama administration. So what is it that they see in Obama that is lacking in McCain? Or are they cutting off their noses to spite their faces.

Further, I cannot imagine that there are not more prominent Dems who believe that experience is what's needed now in light of the nation's present condition. Is it 6 of that last 8 years in the wilderness that has galvanized them and let them see past the shortcomings?

I'm curious to hear some thoughts.

I think McCain's judgement has taken a beating with the VP selection of Palin. I sense there are a lot of disgruntled republicans out there moving or leaning to the Obama side. Surely, there where better republican VP candidates out there other than her.

I think it is indicative of the ideological infighting in each party. I think the Dems are more aligned internally than the Republicans but I refuse to believe they all share the whacked agenda propegated by the blue leadership. Similarly not all Republicans can be rigid christian conservatives, McCain is not. That is why there is so much division amongst the red guys and why McCain picked Palin, she appeases them.

All this IMO is a good sign that the two entrenched parties are starting to unravel. It is my hope that this deterioration contines and we have a chance to see a strong viable third party rise from the ashes in 2016 made up of centrists from both camps as well as liberatarians who have been thus far marginalized.

Sarah Palin is the only person I actually like out of Obama/Biden/McCain/Palin.

The rest are old-school big-government turds. And Obama? Nothing new. He came up in Illinois with the help of corrupt Chicagoland politicians. His hands were dirty from the get-go.

You only like her because you don't know as much about her as the others.

She hasn't done anything to distinguish herself as being anything but an aspiring big-government turd.

I've been following Palin since she became governor (there's a wacky Alaskan on the Caddy forum who brought her to my attention). So far, I like her a lot. Like Governor Sebelius, another favorite of mine, I dont always agree, but I have respect for her.

Then I stand corrected.

No... noooo... please no! I can't stand her, some of the crap she's tried to and has pulled here is simply ridiculous.

Just curious though, what do you find good about her?

I like how during her two terms, Kansas got rid of a huge debt. I agree with her on abortion.

I don't like her opposition to coal plants.

I like that she's in favor of gun ownership, but I dislike her opposition to concealed carry. Otherwise, she's been pretty consistently in favor of gun ownership.

I disagree with her on a lot of things, important things, but I can deal with her, because she has her feet on the ground. She isn't another wacky frothing-at-the-mouth commie turd (hi Barack).
