DAMN! nice work slw240sx! more to the point, the sticky is a good idea! I beleive a gasket kit for a CA18DE out of a pulsart will work, except for the turbo related gaskets. rebuilkd kits will also work. main and rod bearings are the same for all CA motors. can't think of anything else off the top of my head right now.

SAMCO sells CA18DET upper and lower radiator hoses as well as turbo hoses. Check Raretrick.com. You can thank me for that seeing as I convinced the owner to start being a distributor for SAMCO :D hehe

RWD CA18DET water pump.[/quote]NO ONE really answered this, i have briken a couple FWD pumps, and have eventually re-used the pump that i removed that was leaking through the bleed hole..

the problem with the FWD water pump is that it doesn;t have the "c" clip below the bearing on the shaft to stop the blades of the pump from hitting the inside of the block when the engine is under load from driving and the clutch fan.

i am hoping that the ones i got were jsut cheap ones, cause NISSAN sucks here locally and told me they dont have OE replacements so "hard luck"

has anyone used a FWD water pump on a RWD engine that uses/used a clutch fan to kinda get an idea if it can take the load.

I am not going to be using a clutch fan, but it still got to take the load and high RPM....

i thhink the clutch fan broke the FWD pumps i got.

i think i will post the broken water pump so ya'll can see the damage..

please someone let me know.

now ordering the gasket rebuild kit, oil pump, and hopefully water pump.

thanks guys

Was this question ever answered? I want to replace my water pump but no dealer around here can get me the CA18DET pump and I don't want to replace it again any time soon. I am still running the crank pump, that is why I wonder about the Pulsar's pump reliability. Did some searching, never found an answer.

So here's a question... how come no one has just gone to an electric fan? That should help aleviate some of the stress placed on the pump itself...

However.. I could import/stock a few of the RWD pumps from Japan if you guys would be interested?

thats what i was starting to wonder. I didn't get a fan or clutch w/ my motor, and the KA fan doesn't bolt up, so i just planned on getting an e-fan anyways.

CA18DE is the same part # as the CA18DET according to Paul... I remember from some OLD OLD thread! Just get an OEM Nissan one and not the cheap a$$ autozone one and you'll be fine:)

yeah not to bring up an old topic again...but i just had the same problem. i just got in from being with the car. but i installed a water pump from nissan which came from a ca18de FF. everything was fine and dandy gave it a some throttle and poof. the friggin pulley broke off the water pump.

so whats the deal?

who carries an electric pump for the ca18det?

well, if it helps, my oem ff de pump has survived many trips to 7k rpm and half a dozen dyno runs. i think as long as you make the load on the pulley as light as possible youll be ok.
