i had to replace my cross member, so i took it off, and got a newer one, to put back on.

wont go on. about a 1/2 - 1 inch clearnance on the 17 mm bolts, and the rack and pinion doesn't allign.

my first instinct is that the crossmembers or different, but their the same.

then i thought maybe my frame is bent, my frame looked striaght tho.

so i figured that since it was so easy to take my old cross member off, then it would theoretically be just as easy to put back on (assuming a bent frame)

nope.

theres about a 1 inch clearance between the 17mm bolts that lay above the control arm, on the cross member, and the same with the OLD cross member.

any ideas on why?also on why i was able to take my old cross member off 'easy' and unable to put it back on?

thanks for any help and support.

Can you put the old one back on? Maybe something shifted upon removal. Got any pics? You sure they are the same?

Something must have shifted. Get another pair of hands to shove things around while you piece things together.

Is the car jacked up on both sides, so as to not torque the frame?

sigh* many figured i didnt jack the motor. so when i removed the cross member, the motor is weighing down. thus the 1/2 inch clearance.
