Cross combatabilty between gens and models?

So i have wondered, if its possible to switch out parts between cars that are not generally obvious items like wheels and carpets.

For example, i REALLY like the front end of the 2001+ pathfinders, and i have the 96, how hard would it be to switch out the front end to make it look like a 2001?

also, what about consoles, and steering wheels and other items?

im mainly looking for a complete list of what item from what car fits what?

Post-facelift bumper covers/front ends have different mounting points and slightly different shapes as far as I know, so I don't believe they'll fit on a pre-facelift R50.

The center console should be a direct swap between any year R50s. Steering wheel, probably. Floor mats? Possibly - the interior floor shape might have changed slightly during the facelift. Wheels will fit as long as the lug pattern is the same.

2001+ Pathfinders and QX4s have a heavy duty version of the automatic transmission which should be a direct swap for any RE4R01A equipped Pathfinder, either WD21 or R50.

WD21 (1987-1995) Pathfinders don't have very many parts interchangeability with R50s (1996 - 2004); many early model D22U Frontiers and most years of WD22 Xterras have many direct swaps for WD21s/D21s, but I digress at this point.

i doubt carpet would fit if i read correctly the newer R50s got wider. facelift will be difficult you will need new fenders hood flarings i think the rad support is also diff. too much money for that kinda job. Most ive seen is tail light swapps and rims.
