Ah the time has come to part ways with what has been the most fantastic car I have ever owned.

Coming home from Hitman's house in December I received my first criminal speeding ticket for 115 mph in a 65 mph. I was overtaking a semi truck with a cavalier behind it. The cavalier cut me off then went back behind the semi. When I started to pass the cavalier again it pulled into my lane. I nailed it and when I popped out on the other side of the semi a black mustang GT that had been trying to get me to race him turned on his lights & sirens. I started praying and avoided jail and impound. I just finished pleading not guilty. I have only had 1 other ticket and it was way back in 1996.

While I think I have a pretty good chance of not having anything too terrible happen ($500 and or 30 days jail is the maximum) I am afraid that in a car that adds 10 mph per second I might get another ticket.

As a result my car is on autotrader for about $700 less than I owe. If you know anyone who can swing a $650 a month car payment and likes 5 passenger 500 hp, 200mph cars that can beat a 1st gen Lamborghini Gallardo in a straight line please forward them my ad. The car has 12,000 miles of bumper-bumper warranty that includes all maintenance but tire. The warranty is transferable and extendable; it expires on July 20th, 2016 or at 50,000 miles.

Good question... I own all the cars in my profile and have a three car garage.... so right now I have a running 1999 Altima SE LTD with a 5spd Manual, a running 2000 Honda Accord that has HONDA ISSUES once resolved will give to my retired pastor, a running 2012 Sequoia LTD 4x4 and the Jag. I also have a nearly I mean I need a day of wrenching to finish it 1992 Miata and a extreme fabrication project 1965 CJ-5. The 1914 Woods is in storage out of state and would be a terrible daily.

I LOVE the Altima almost as much as I love my Jag. I will probably keep driving it, perhaps turbo it looking for 100 hp if I go turbo.

I am currently in the market for but in no rush to buy a 2014 Mazda 6 Grand Touring in liquid silver with black interior, pre-owned with less than 10k miles out the door for 26k. I have driven this car about 10-15 times and I love it. It handles like a Miata... I mean the steering is absolutly PERFECT and it has every feature my Jag has except for cooled seats and 448 RWHP. In return for the cooled seats you get regular unleaded and 26 city /38 hwy MPG. The body lines are similar, I'm going to debadge it, add a Injen cold air intake and racing beat muffler and that will get it up to 200 hp from 185 without voiding the warranty or changing the gas mileage.

I drove a iTouring Mazda 6 with the 6 speed and although it is a hoot to drive and the shifter feels exactly like a Miata's and the clutch is the best I've ever felt.... its slower than the automatic by almost a second to 60 mph AND it gets worse gas mileage. Which hits home my arguement that driver engagement is the only reason to have a manual transmission on a 2010 + modern car. The 6 has a real 6 speed auto with paddles... the shifts are not as fast or harsh as my Jag but they are not as slow and mushy as any bowtie or oval I have driven recently (Camaro/Mustang fix it!).

I drove 2014 Altima's and they are a super deal I worked out $16,500 out the door on a brand new 2014 Altima S with remote start and blue tooth. But in the end even though its bigger in the front seat than the 6 the CVT killed it for me. It sucks so bad and so hard, the 2.5 Nissan 4 is harsh and makes unpleasant noises compared to the 2.5 Mazda 4. I would feel like I had bought a lesser car that the Jag or the Mazda if I bought a new Altima.

So I passed, Nissan pay attention....I'm planing to spend $10,000 more for a Mazda that your Nissan technically beats or matches in every measurable category except for driver feel. And thats it in the end Nissan stopped carrying about people who expect to enjoy driving their car and it shines through in every CVT turd they put on the lot.

Mazda 6 is one amazing family sedan. That body, that interior, that handling, that steering, and all for that price. They managed to go from a second-tier offering (626) to the top of the pack in just over a decade.

Sorry to hear you're parting ways with the Jag dude! Glad you weren't arrested though. I raced an unmarked in my Formula 350 way back in 94. Fortunately his brother was also in the USAF and stationed at the same base I was, so he just wrote me a big ticket and sent me home. I don't think I was going 115 though...iirc it was 91 in a 45. Whatever, good luck with the sale.

wow... yep this officer was trying to get me to race him pulling up next to me and then flying off. Even if I were a street racer zero point because my car is way faster than his Mustang. He asked me if I had tried to race him during the stop and I had to stiffle my laugh as I said no. My car makes at least 500 hp and his makes 412 hp in Phoenix his car is in the low 13's and mine is in the mid 12's at the track.

I have a pre trial hearing and will look for a nice plea deal with the prosecutor. I talked to 4 attorney's and they all said it wouldn't make much difference if I hired them or not. 115 is too fast to get bumped down to civil. If I can't get something good from the prosecutor I will probably hire an attorney and take it to trial, let the judge decide.

Hopefully the Jag is sold by then.

Good luck man, that sounds like a tough situation.
Out of curiosity- are you selling the Jag because you think you'll do it again? Or more along the lines of saying to the judge- look, I messed up, I admit it, and I sold the thing that enabled me to get in trouble?

The Jag was a fling, I bought it thinking I would either sell it or extend the warranty. I put 22k miles on it last year!!! so I'm running out of warranty faster than I imagined... its fun to drive. I still have 12k or warranty or 2 years of time left so its a good time to sell it. The next owner will have piece of mind and be able to extend it if they want. The warranty includes everything, oil changes, brakes, wiper blades... I just put a new set front and rear Michilin Pilot Super Sports on the car and I have the factory Dunlop Sport Maxx in my garage, the rears are about 2/10ths but the fronts are like new.

Both, the Jag is way too fast, Greg went double the speedlimit when he drove it the same day I got my ticket. It doesn't take any effort to build speed it has 500lb of torque from 1500 rpm - 6000. Not the cars fault, in my situation if I would have been any any of our other cars when the Cavailer pulled into the side of me and I reacted with full throttle I would have been going under 100 mph.

I drove it about 2 weeks with the cruise control and it was sheer torture. If you can't afford to enjoy it then its just a nice car and cost way to much to piddle around town on the cruise. I have been getting over 20 mpg though piddling around town on cruise control.

So yep that is what I'm planning get rid of it so I don't get another ticket and its was almost time anyway to either get rid of it or extend the warranty. It has been more reliable than I expected I had 1 breakdown in all of 2013 and it was a broken axle shaft that was 100% my fault. I used full throttle leaving a light and it wheel hopped instead of spinning I let up but it was too late. Jag had it fixed in a day and I was forced to drive a Range Rover.

I had one break down in 2012, the efan quit working I was able to drive it into Jag and they gave me a black XJL to drive for a week while they ordered a new fan.

I had a door panel wood panel develop a very small crack that they fixed, the passenger headlight washer failed. I have a rear window switch on order, the finish on one of them is worn so they are giving me a new one. The service at Jaguar is top shelf. If I were paying for any of these repairs they would not have happened because they really didn't matter.

Someday probably in 10-20 years from now I will own a orange F-type vert with the same drive train as my XF. This motor makes beautiful sounds and has so much torque. I will own another Jag with this motor in the future.

If I could afford the Jag I'd be all over it. The XFR (I know yours is "just" an SC, but still) is the second most appealing car on the planet for me right now (the first being its big brother the XJR). Gorgeous, spectacular chassis and powertrain, marvelous interior, great dynamics, driver-centric, brilliant intelligent diff, incredible exhaust note...the only strike against it is the lack of a third pedal. Could use a little more rear seat space, too, if we're getting picky, but then that's why it's the SECOND most appealing car and not the first.

I'm glad you owned one, as I was at least able to enjoy it vicariously from afar. Maybe I'll scoop up a used one in 5 years.

It's a car that would be perfectly comfortable and stress-free at 140mph... cruising.

Hell, we were having a conversation at 130. :)

Cars that mask how fast you're going are definitely trouble. My BMW isn't anywhere near as quick, but she floats along at 100mph as easy as my 240 does 45. Quiet, smooth and confident.

I haven't driven a car on a public road at over 100mph since I was 17, and that was just once. (Ferrari in 3rd gear) OF course there are not many roads around here with light enough traffic to accomplish that. But 100+ mph off the street is a different story. ;)

Masking the speed with quiet interior and composed suspension is part of the problem. It also builds speed with very little effort and under full throttle quickly. I have heard zero to off the 185 mph speedometer takes less than 30 seconds.

Last time I did triple digits (Crossfire SRT6) I lucked out big time. When the radar was actually on me I was doing a more reasonable 85.

I was braking when I was pulled over, from the speedlimit 75 - 160 takes 18 seconds... I accelerated long enough to pass the car that pulled into me and the semi in front of it. Probably about 4 seconds. I don't know how fast I was actually going but it was very brief and in hindsite probably about double the acceleration I needed to get out of the way of the car that wanted my lane but only when I was next to him.

Yep. The Q of DOOM was the same way. SO SILKY and effortless at stupid speed combined with an always-ready supply of torque. It was really easy to accidentally (genuinely accidentally, not "accidentally" accidentally) look down and realize I was going WAY too fast.

Even in the relatively gutless LS8, it's super easy to drop the hammer for passing and realize you've overshot. Which is precisely why I like it. I LOVE cars that take the drama out of fast. Most people want cars that feel fast even when they're going slow, but I tend to prefer the opposite.

Indeed, yes!

I loved both my Q's (although the 1991 was better in this regard than the 1995 Q ... the 95 had a softer ride ... too soft) for that effortless reason. It was easy to cruise at very high speeds.

Even in my current 2003 M45, it is wonderful to see how effortlessly the car will accelerate. Every time I get a loaner G35 or G37 at the dealer when I bring it in, I am reminded of this when I get my car back afterwards. The G's will sound great and handle well, and all that, but they always seem to be straining a bit at high rev's and acceleration, where the M is smooth and effortless.

I agree for the street, but not the track. Not many things are more satisfying than passing a powerful car with a momentum car, except perhaps doing it in front of witnesses.... :bigthumb: .

soooo... the Jaguar sold for nearly 40k... I miss it dearly
AND my criminal speeding ticket was reduced to a civil. The factors that make the biggest difference in getting a criminal reduced to a civil.... prayer. Lots and lots of prayer by many people.

#2 I appologized to the officer and said I did something stupid. I don't remember doing either of these things but in his notes on the "arrest" this was what made him not take me to jail and impound the car. Something to remember when you are stopped.

#3 My driving record was spotless, I had received one other ticket back in 1996 and the prosecutor could not see it.

#4 I drive for living and receive a car allowance.

#5 I had two character reference letters one from my pastor and another from a pastor that is also a translator for the Superior Court.

Lesson learned! I'm rocking the Altima for now. I had a 2014 Mazda 6 as a loaner car a while back and after a few hundred miles it didn't feel any more awesome than the altima and I like driving the stick in the Altima. Some might say hey just get a mazda 6 with a stick and while the stick is more fun to drive in the current mazda 6 it is nearly a SECOND slower and gets worse gas mileage.

I think I may drive the Altima for a year and sack away cash that would otherwise be going on a loan. I really love the Jaguar XJL and since I'm not as concerned with performance would not hate driving a non supercharged V8 XJL.

I know it's too late now, but for future reference, call more lawyers, LOL! Maybe it's different there, but when I got busted for 112 in a 70, I called AT LEAST a half a dozen before I found one that said he could do something for me.The ticket was for reckless driving, child endangerment (I passed a mini-van with kids in it), failure to yield the right of way to an emergency vehicle (I didn't slow down fast enough when he turned his lights on, which was stupid because I stomped on the brakes so hard the ABS came on) and then the speeding ticket itself. (I was polite as well, but he still threw the book at me. He also said it was the fastest speeding ticket he's ever had someone actually pull over for) After he worked his magic, all I had was the speeding ticket and inattentive driving.

That same cop flipped his lights on at me the other day on Grand Avenue. I was going less than 5 miles over the speed limit. I backed off and set the cruise and have done that everyday since. The 3 does not like.
