Question guys...out of all the stupid things Republicans say there is 1 thing I can't figure out. How exactly do you create jobs? Are they opening more starbucks or something? I'm not sure where they are coming from with this one.

Pork? But we're against that, too...

In all seriousness, the standard Republican line is to say that we cut more taxes for businesses.

Yea yea yea I hear the cutting taxes all the time and how had the democrats f*** up but the main thing they are saying in Minnesota is they are going to create jobs. I am just confused how they plan to create jobs. I mean jobs aren't a product you can make so how do you create them?

A major flaw in the Republican argument is their blind faith that businesses will reinvest the money in a manner that will lead to business growth will require payroll investment. Not the case at all.

1. Not reinvesting any of that money lends itself to increased profits on the existing business, That means increased bonuses for existing management and workers. That alone is a major incentive for management not to use the money to increase worker numbers.

2.Investment of any of that money is going to be in a manner that will grow and streamline company efficiency, not increase the gross number of workers. Things like further computerization and use of more and more robots.

#2 is becoming a big problem right now. In the face of the recession, employers are looking for ways to increase efficiency - getting more work out of fewer workers. This is good for the business, but lousy for the unemployment rate, because employer's don't have a need for new workers. Demand hasn't outstripped their newly efficient processes.
