When I tilt the sunroof glass the rubber gasket makes a funny noise. It is rubbing against the roof of the car. When the sunroof is closed and I slowly drive in a parking lot, as soon as I enter a pothole or something the whole gasket around the sunroof creaks. Last week I spray little WD40 on a cloth and rub on the gasket/seal. The noise is all gone. However after two rainy days, the noise return back.

I don;t want to apply any sort of chemicals, in case they damage the rubber. However I need to find a sort of "lube" to make it silent. It drives me crazy.

I went to my dealer and they said "It has a three year warranty, don;t worry nothing is broken". I said "if you are lubing hinger (although they are working) you should do something to prevent this excess rubbing". Because I think after 250-300 open-close cycle the rubber will be damaged.

Mine has just recently started making noise when I tilt it up as well, No sound when I close it. Haven't had a chance to get up and look to see what was going on though so any input from others would be greatly appreciated.

Why don't you use the so-called chemicals that do not damage the rubber. Maybe it will get rid of the sound at the same time. I heard people in here mention some 303 stuff or get those back to black rubber restorer. Won't not using protector make these suckers dry up faster and life expectancy lower. hence rubber damage not likely.

Alot of rubber to protect on the Rogue I notice. Around windows, inside door. So far I just use Armour all thats lying around for the moldings on the bottom/between the windows and around side mirrors but have not touch inside the doors.

Akways thought about the sunroof gasket but been to lazy to do that yet. :barf:

I hardly used my nissan maxima sunroof which is why it probably lasted 16 years. Even though I use my my Rogue sunroof more often, others having problems with their sunroof just reminds me that I should not use it as often. I always get paranoid that using something like a sunroof too much would make it break faster.

A guy in a civic forum had the same problem. Check it out:

I used WD-40 (and actually on their web site, this application is listed!). I sprayed onto a sponge and applied. I helped a lot. But I avoid using sunroof too much. I don't think this rubber gasket will last long!
