sounds like rubber rubbing on rubber or something, real annoying creaking noise... i had a bad leak in my steeing line, and i was too broke to keep buying power steering fluid so i let it run dry for about a week. replaced the line, but not before this creaking started happening. i put more fluid in there when i got the new line on and it still creaked. sounds like its coming from the connection of the column to the steering rack area. any suggestions are welcome thanks guys

Air in the rack.

You need to completely fill the system.

Now, while parked, turn the wheel lock to lock several times until the noise starts to go away.

If that does do it then your rack & pinion is starting to go!

it mught just be the ball joint where the steering tie rod connects to the hub carrier. one of the boots on mine is broke, and the ball joint groans every now and again if i don't constantly grease it
