creaking sound coming from the rear power lift door

My first entry on the Rogue Forum. I hope that someone can help with our issue. Thanks.
Wife just leased a 2016 Rogue, her 3rd Rogue. She loves the car. Lots of bells and whistles. However, after 2000 miles on the odometer, it has developed a very loud creak/squeak coming from the rear power lift door. Never had this issue with previous models. But then again they were not powered. We pulled everything out of the rear of the car to find out what was causing it including the adjustable floor panels, spare tire, Bose subwoofer, car jack and tools. The noise continued. Opened the lift door, drove and found that the creak/squeak went away!! Closed it and the noise came back. We have an appointment with the dealer but we're not sure if they know what to do to make it go away. Doesn't seem like the kind of noise we should be hearing from a vehicle that is priced out over $32,000! I wonder if Nissan is aware of the problem...
Can anyone provide insight into this issue??? Thanks.
