creaking noise coming from center console (shifter area)

Every now and then i hear a creaking noise coming from my center console near the shifter. if i put my hand on the plastic it stops. Any ideas? also, is there anyway to not get the dash board "miles to empty" to flash until the gas gets lower than 49 miles. Mine started blinking constantly at 49 miles to empty and i couldnt get it to stop, yet i had plenty of gas to get to my destination. (quite annoying!)

to answer some of your questions:
1. creaking noise from the center console: i did a write up on how to remove this sound (its just plastic rubbing)

2. and there is no way to get the dash to stop blinking at you. its been a feature in nissan for 10years now. many manufacturers have been doing the same.
