hi all, i am a new member here. I just picked up a 1990 300zx 2+0 tt car. The funny thing is if i decode the vin, it comes up as a 1990 2+2 na car. any ideas? all vin numbers on the car look fine. even the one that is stamped in the firewall. It has HICAS and the brackets for all the intercooler piping are welded in and look original.

That is weird. I wonder if you're benefiting from some cheaper insurance rates because of it...

I"m just wondering where the mix up is. The car is definitely not a 2+2. even the paint code is right.

Hmmm. Perhaps the serial plate and firewall with that serial stamped might have begun their lives in an NA 2+2 with the same original factory color, but it got cannibalized to fix a far more desireable but totalled 2+0 TT. If done when fairly new, the dirt/patina could make it look original. just a theory.

Have you looked for the VIN in some non-standard locations? Etched into glass, under the carpets, core supports, etc. I'm not sure where they are located on the Z32 but there should be other VIN locations.
