Okay so the hardbody pickup came with the KA24 and a 3l V6 engine, but where's the fun in that? I'm thinking of swapping a VQ30DET (venus auto, from a gloria Y34, 98+) into a hardbody pickup. This engine is rated at '280hp' and is RWD.

If i could find an older truck with a bad/old engine for 1500ish and get this clip for 1500, make some custom mounts maybe custom exhaust i think it could work. Please offer any insight that would prove me wrong.

It would be a total sleeper, with stock exterior. It would probably end up at about 3000 pounds. I would think 300-400hp could be squeezed out of the VQ30DET w/o doing much at all, even fully stock its got 280hp.

Besides, a 98+ jdm engine from a luxory type sedan is going to have low low miles and be practically new still and the whole clip only runs 1500 bucks.

there are more than few RWD hardbody's running around with sr20's and running 12 second quarter miles. I've seen several turbo frontiers too, 2 and 4 WD.Its not a new idea (I suppose nothing is) but its not a bad one either.Personally I wanna get a 4 runner and swap the JDM turbo diesel into it.

wiring, mounts and driveshaft are the only things i see that could be problems motor should fit easily maybe a truck with a v6 already would be a direct fit minus ecu and some other wiring let me know i've thought about this before too :). let me know what u find :) :) :)

Of course the SR20 truck has been done, the SR20 sleeps around in just about any chassis these days. I guess the point of this thread is the VQ30DET not putting more power in the pickup. Just gotta mount it, wire it, fuel it, and hook it up to the differential i guess. Something for me to think about if i get the time/money.

Now that i think about it, the VQ30DET could probably be put into the J30 w/o too much of a hassle. That'd make for some good times.
