I'm having an issue with something that needs to be greased. On cold starts something in the engine bay is screeching like CRAZY! When I rev the car up, it goes away, but the the screeching will come back in the evening, when it's cooler, at complete stop. Last weekend I did the oil change, and while under the car I took some WD-40 the all the pulleys, but still the problem persists. As long, as the car RPMs are above 1K, then there is no screeching. Any ideas on what it could be? I'm planning on taking it to Nissan tomorrow to have it diagnosed. So, should I not find a resolution with your guy's advise, I shall report back.

Thanks in advance!

Well is it coming from front of the engine?? Cause my water pump is making a noise, not screeching as you stated! I think the bearing are gone for mines but it could be that or something...

My alternator belt used to screech pretty loud on start ups and when it was cold outside. Maybe you need new belts?

The front, sounds like it.

That's what I'm thinking as well.

Come on this is like Car Maintenance 101, screeching sounds mean old worn out accessory belts. I am pretty sure nothing else makes a "screeching" noise in the engine bay.

And lubing the belts makes them slip more... belts, adjustment or tensioner

This.

Have you messed with liquids or anything? Like gotten wiper washer fluid or coolant or oil on the belts?

If it's a newer belt, I'd tighten it (if applicable), or replace it.
