crazy idle

ive done the search, and I couldnt find quite like mine. My idle has been acting up since day one. first of all it idles high... on a good day its at 1400ish that is what i consider good. but it fluctuates too, sometimes it will idle at 18, 22 and even as high as 25. pretty much those are the only 4 numbers it hits. Now when I start the car up it could it may be idling at 1400 then after i drive it a bit it will do up to 22 then after a little while longer 18... it doesnt really have a pattern. What could be the cause of this? thanks

just wondering, how taut is the throttle cable?

is your timing correct? and whats the specs on the motor? all stock?

yea the motor is all stock... other then a BOV, and fuel pump. and im almost positive my timing is good

I had this happen with my SR. 1400 is a pretty high idle. You should shoot for 750-800. I recalibrated the TPS then i reset the timing. After that you should set your idle with the idle screw on the AIV. hope this helps.

how do you go about recalibrating the TPS?

You might want to search for some more info. This was a while ago so I will try to explain in detail. I unhooked the TPS from the harness and the throttle body. Then I placed a volt meter across the power and ground terminals. Then I reads the voltage difference from no to full throttle. I dont know if this will help you %100, but hey its a try. If you search more about the TPS, you will be able to find some voltage values and such.
