Before you get all flame happy yes i searched and no I didn't find anything usefull!. Now then, I have a 1990 240sx and the problem started about wednesday(sp) of last week, then went away. Didn't think to much of it just thought it was becuase of the cold weather. Went out this morning around 8 and it was pretty cool becuase of the frost/ice on the windows and what not. Started up the car and it was doing fine Turned on the radio to get some tunes while it was warming up and a few min later the idle started jumping from 500 to 1200 then up to 2000 then down to 400 and then back to the same 1200 then up to 2100 and it was just going crazy. The car would then go back and idle fine then it would idle and shake all crazy-like. My car is stock. Completly stock. I have no idea whats wrong and really need yalls help if i could be somthing serious! Please help!

Well, according to your post times you didn't give people a whole lot of time to reply.

My nephew...89 Hatch SOHC. Same problem.

1. Guides were gone off of his timing change. Had that all replaced, and it was fine for 1 day. Same problem came back2. Rewired injectors and it was fine for about one day. Same problem3. Finally, adjusted timing on distributor and turned idle down and it has been fine since.

It is still sluggish at times, but it doesn't idle crazy anymore.

So, I guess the point of all that is to try number 3.

I am not a Nissan mechanic, just relaying information that worked for my nephew. Hope that helps.

check timing and idle. You don't have to work hard to play with the idle. Adjust it and see what happens.

you also check for any crap on your injector plugs? I've noticed alot of s13's with corrosion at the injector plugs and it makes for irregular idles.

Might be a sticking EGR valve. With motor shut off, manually move the EGR valve up and down with your fingers to make sure it moves freely.
