Had kind of a crazy idea the other day. It would cost a s*** load and take a while, but who knows, after I finish my mech. engineering degree and get some $$ saved up I might just try it.
Everyone by now has seen the Full-race R14 by now. Well this is what I'm thinking:

This:

Or this:

Plus this:

Combined with the AMS 1100+hp Alpha 10 kit

•AMS Alpha 10 Turbo System
•Balanced and Blueprinted VR38 AMS Race Engine
•AMS Alpha 10 Transmission by Sheptrans. Upgraded with Dodson and PPG components
•AMS 90mm Downpipes (catalytic converters available)
•AMS 90mm Resonated Mid-pipe (race version available)
•AMS 90mm Race Exhaust Upgrade
•AMS Front Mount Intercooler Upgrade
•AMS 76mm High-Flow Intercooler Piping
•HKS SSQV Blow-Off Valves
•AMS Accu-Flow Intake Piping
•K&N Air Filters
•AMS Turbo Inlet Pipes
•AMS Upgraded MAF Sensors calibrated for perfect driveability
•AMS MAP sensor upgrade

I vote for #2 car. And yes... That would cost a S-load of time and money. It would be soooo worth it tho to have it done and done right of course.

It would be nuts for sure!
AMS ran a 9.1@160mph and hit 205mph in the Texas mile with one of their Alpha equipped GTRs.
Now imagine that minus ~1200lbs!!

well a GTR is what 3850lb, a S14 is around 2800lb, throw on carbon hood, fenders, bumpers, trunk and a few other weight reductions. well maybe more like 900-1000lb considering the weight of the GTR drivetrain and all. It cant be that much heavier than the cast Iron KA and the 240s drivetrain.

I don't see how it's any better than just buying a GTR and putting the kit on it... I also don't think you'd really experience any real weight reduction.

Just looked it up and the GTR engine is 600lb :ohno: (thats 100lb more than a LS1 and trans) the GTR trans is around 325lb. For comparison the KA is about 375lb and the 240 trans is around 100lb.
So basically it would be around 500lb heavier than a stock s14 before any weight reduction. (not to sure about how much weight can be taken out of the S14)

Not to mention you'd probably have to swap over the suspension (something better than stock stuff, anyhow) and all the metal welding you'd have to add to make it possible.

Yeah, just buy the GTR and kit.

yea by the time its all said and done, the price difference wouldn't be that much.
I think the GTR with the kit is between $110,000 and $125,000 depending on which kit (Alpha 9,10,12).

it would still be one of the only 240s with a GTR heart ive ever seen.

Right. The AWD, probly costom rear end supension and subframe work, costom driveshaft for length, maybe some weight reduction, etc, etc...

But my first statement still stands

There's probably a reason for that. ;) It's certainly an ambitious project.

I'm with Dave on this. Put aside the weight difference that may or may not make a noticeable difference, at the end of the day you either have a really fast GTR or a really fast 240.

Pretty sure that decision answers itself.

GT-Rs have been running past 1000hp and 200mph for years with over a liter less engine and less sophisticated electronics, so what?

Bmore, Razi, thats kinda what I was thinking. Don't get me wrong I do like the look of the GTR, but having and ungodly fast S14 and being able to do something different and unexpected is a little more my style.
