Yeah, in the US the VK56VD timing chain stuff is a voluntary recall. A quick googling on my phone didn't yield anything for Canada, but I'd check their website/call somebody.

If I may ask, what do you intend to do with the recall?

regarding the timing chain, yes it was a recall. But unfortunately i think it did expire. When i had mine done a few months ago the service manager said that i was lucky,
because he received an email from Nissan or Infiniti (don't recall which one exactly) that it would expire in two weeks and that it would become an out of pocket expense after that!

According to the NHTSA, here in the US a recall does not expire but they are only enforced for a reasonable period of time, usually until either the vehicle's manufacturer goes out of business or the parts are no longer being made. In this case, the timing chain is still being made, and Nissan is still in business, plus it hasn't been that long since the issue cropped up. Also, if you had paid out of pocket for the timing chain job, (in most cases) the dealer will reimburse you with proper documentation.
On a side note, I recently bought a 1993 Ford F150 for a spare vehicle, and had a recall item taken care of no problem.
The M56 is hard to find - usually one has to go online to find one. There are several out there if you are interested in another one. Best of luck in whatever you decide to do!
Thats what I thought! But they are saying it's not a recall but a service campaign, which is expired up here in Canada.

You know what, I LOVE my M, the speaker system is amazing, and the japanese ash wood is beautiful, but I'm thinking of getting a JX 35...
Yeah the recall is for the US. Canada must have different rules or criteria. Not sure about losing control due to a broken chain; my car just started running rough but my chain was stretched, not broken. I would think the engine would just quit running if the chain broke.ProverbPsalms wrote: ↑Sun Jun 24, 2018 8:46 pmThats what I thought! I'm wondering if my timing chain broke which caused me to loose control and crash...
