Hmmm.
Safety is a big plus and a big reason why i got my V.
This based on these and other reviews [NHTSA included]: http://www.canadiandriver.com/2008/04/2 ... m?page=all http://consumerguideauto.howstuffworks. ... ersa-3.htm
In spite of some egg on the 2011 Versa's face, I do welcome more comprehensive testing.
Electronic Stability Control is going to be standard on all new cars sold in Canada, but i don't know when...?!?!?
Also, i am curious how the diagonal-slide-into-pole-test will be conducted consistently for accurate comparison.
I see their other tests appear pretty repeatable.

Hmmm...for 2008 edmunds posted: "In National Highway Traffic Safety Administration crash tests, it earned a four-star rating (out of a possible five) for driver and front-passenger protection in head-on collisions; five stars were given for side-impact safety. In the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's frontal-offset and side-impact tests, the Versa earned the top score of "Good.""

Exactly. After I read that I pulled out my window sticker when my wife got home (she's driving my V while I'm driving a rental because a dear decided to try and take on her car a couple of weeks back....it lost) and saw the safety ratings. That, and even though I'm not a Toyota fan...Camry has always been one of the safer cars and it only got 3 stars. Something is wrong with the new ratings.

There is nothing wrong with the new ratings. The Versa, like many cars that are aging, simply do not test well in the new side impact tests. The Versa tested well against a simulated SUV side impact (old test), but does not do so well when tested against the very realistic side impact pole test.
