so long story short, i was at a drift event and i went out on track and then they mistakenly sent another car on track with out me knowing and by the time i found out there was crunching metal going on.

It looked alot worse than it was there was no frame damage and aside from the bumper i didnt even chip the paint. There where two good size buckles in the fender but i was able to hammer/dolly them right out, i still havent taken the fender off but once i do i will have better access to the backsides and might not have to respray the fender, bumper is definitly required though. most of the repair took less than 3 hrs

It was a miscommunication between the people at the line, everybody was real apologetic and such so it wasnt a big deal.

Dude that's crazy! I would have been very upset with the officials not because my car got banged up, but because they put lives at risk. You were lucky to get out with minimal damages and no injuries. That's a real big bummer. Glad you can take it light hearted though.

Looks like the core support is damaged as well. This wasn't at Desoto was it??

By the way, what Griffin are you running in your car??

no it was in miami, im running a griffin universal core 26 x 19.

I made the upper core support to be removable back wheni did the second swap, i had the whole thing bolted together with 4 10mm bolts and the bottom frame rails /reinforced with the factory xbar so it took 85 percent of the impact and ripped the 10mms out without damaging the engine bay at all, the removable portion was slightly bent but no biggie i just pulled it out and bent it back and as you can see it looks fine.

Edit

as for the tack officials, all of them are friends of mine so i really cant be mad at them after all they didnt do it on purpose, the other driver was also at fault too, but his s13 got pretty much totalled so he really got the worse of it.

You're a good sport Jerry! I think I'd probably be a lot more mad than you seem to be.

About your radiator....Would you go any bigger than a 26x19 if you could? Does the engine ever get hot at any track or drift events?

I've got a 26x19 Fluidyne and I'm re-doing the entire front end of my car. I figured if I need to go for a bigger radiator, now is the time to do it.

I live in TX and running about the same size radiator. We have had 106*F weather here, and my gauge reads great, but the heat of the engine that radiates into the cab is unbearable at times. lol.

I've gotten on it several times, with long a** burnouts too, and the gauge doesn't seem to move a bit.

yea everyone at the track said they couldnt believe how well i was taking it since i have one of the nicest cars out there, people always ask are you part of the car show, and they always seem surprised when i say hell no im drifting.

Since i built the car with the sole purpose of driving it, i prepared myself long ago for the possibility of wrecking it, although i was a little pissed that the reason i wrecked was because of a stupid mistake but hey thats racing.

As for the cooling with the radiator and the taurus fan my temperature never goes over 160 degrees with the fan running, typically what i do is switch the fan off while im on the track then by the time i get off the track the temp has risen to around 180-185 then i turn the fan back on and it takes litterally about 1 minute to get back down to 160. On the street ive driven with the fan off nearly the whole time and the hottest ive gotten it is 195.

Temp has been verified off of my defi gauge and now the new digital fan controller i bought so i dont have to keep manually hitting switches lol.

Jerry,

Meant to thank you for being one of the few people who mounted their aerocatch pins correctly.
