well, my steering is getting crappier and it's pissing me off so it might get an overhaul soon but i would like to figure out the problems first. the boots on both of my tie rod ends are bad so those need to be replaced. when i checked the tie rod ends by moving the wheels the driver's side would rock a little bit so i figured that end was bad. the passenger side is ok for now. but when i looked at the suspension as i rocked the wheel the tie rod end and the tie rod moved with the spindle and the wheel. could there be something wrong with the rack that would allow the tie rod to move like that? i don't think it's moving the rack because the passenger side feels solid when i do the same thing and i can see the boot bellowing a little. i would pull everything apart and check it but this is a daily driver and i don't want to tear it apart several times.

i've been thinking about upgrading to a HICAS rack anyway so this would be a good excuse or would it just be a waste of money right now? (i don't have any to waste) i want to re-do everything with tein tie rod ends and tie rods, HICAS rack, rack bushings, and a direct steering bushing. are the tein ends worth the money? they look like stock replacement.

i'm asking here because i didn't get one helpful response at zilvia. maybe you guys are smarter.

do the rack if the tie rod is moving independant of the rack/other side tire.

If you bought the special tolls you could probably tighten the inner tie rod. but It may be cheaper to get the rack if your buying used.
