crappy low rpm

my car runs like crap at anything under 2000rpm idle revs and will eventually die and if im holding a constant speed at anything under 2g it will lurch like hell. the vacuum gauge will go from 20 to 10 and bounce around in there but when i hit the gas it steady and if im over 2g it will sit at -20 i think the o2 sensor might be bad but im not sure as i have not gotten it to a scanner to see.

I have the same problem. just droped in an 97 engine into my 91 and the bottom end sux... bad. 0-60=three days 60-115=right now

what start the problem for you? any changes, vac lines too hot and melted? anything different? i know i have to fix a gap (yes, very bad leak) between the manifold and the downpipe, maybe tune timing a little too?

Anything under 20 vacuum at idle you need to look for an a air leak.

check the compression on your cylynders

Sounds like a small intercooler pipe leak, or perhaps a very dirty IACV.

You can pull the hose off that little tube that sticks out from under the intake manifold next to the throttlebody. Fill that thing nearly full with throttlebody cleaner, re-attach the hose and start the car. It'll be very hard to start at first, then chug like a coal burning steam engine. After it clears out, see how it idles.
