I was up for my DOT physical for my job... they added some new tests that I didn't get to do 2 years ago...

one was this eye color crap  that I totally forgot about when I got tested for back when I wanted to go to the armed services back in the early 90s...

http://colorvisiontesting.com/ishihara.htm#plate with 10 answer

i only got the first plate

I remember the military screener quoting that i had blue/green deficiency,(but using a different test than this) and that's what i've told the medical tech that was performing the test on me...

the tech then used a simple color flag chart against a wall & I got them all correct <shrugs>

similar to the colors on the cube:

i can't even see the message on the following t shirt...

http://www.colblindor.com/2006/04/01/fu ... olorblind/

but after looking at this other site online, i probably have more than that <sigh>

so how many other NICOnauts out there are also color blind/deficient?

side note: i thought my car was gray when it was actually blue?!? :gapteeth:

It's not that you don't see the color...it's that your brain can't differentiate between different shades. So the world as you see it is just as colorful as the world a non-mutant person sees.
And it's been shown that it's a positive evolutionary trait..as color-deficient folks can detect certain camouflages better.

I too am color deficient. Of course I had to find out during my Navy processing...was totally unaware I was colorblind until I went in the dark room and they made me look at those slides. Me: "Um...s***" And only got the first slide right. Which...for the Navy, removes a lot of opportunities.

I then went to my own optometrist and they said I had Deuteranopia.

oceans and sky looks normal to me; the NJ shore ocean are for the most part greenish... sky's mostly blue during the day <shrugs>

ah those light-slide tests is what got me limited/ passed over for the military back then...

now i'm just browsing through teh internetz to confirm that i may have the same condition as you...

That's a really good way of saying it, similar to how I tried to explain it to my sister (I'm color blind myself). It's hard to explain it to people. With me, any time someone would hear that I was color blind they start asking "what color is my shirt, what color is that napkin, etc, etc." Quite annoying, actually.

Color blindness is a real dream-crusher in my line of work. And it happens surprisingly often. Sucks.

No s***...and it apparently automatically disqualifies you from appreciating art, car colors, and sunsets.
