So far I've found to different ways to get it off. You can drill it and hit it with a cold chisel and crack it off or you can drill it and tap it and pull it off. I want to know who has done which and to what success.

Me and my father fab'd something that works, we threaded a whole that was already there on each side, put two long bolts without heads on them and took a peice of flat metal with two holes for the bolts to go threw, and put nuts on the end of them and put another peice of metal 2inch x 2inch x 8inch and rigged some kinda ghetto *** clamp that pulls it off inch by inch the more you spin it lol ill have to take a photo

I believe he talking about the piece behind the pully and t-belt cover. I used some pb blaster on it. Let it soak spray it a couple more times. Spray around the back side. I pried mine off with a pry bar. One on each side. Just gotta be careful with the oil pump. Once I got it to budge I worked it off prying on each side alternating sides once it budges. They are usually on there pretty tight so its gonna take some muscle. I didn't hit mine with any type of chisel.

did mine the same way as phat optimo. 2 large flat head screw drivers and some lube. didnt come off that easy, but just take it slow and you shouldnt have any problems. careful about prying it and messing up the oil pump... i have heard this not the "correct" way to do it over on SDU.

someone on SDU said the proper way to do it is like you said, drill it and crack it with a chisel...

Well I drilled and tapped the sprocket with 6mm holes to try and keep things simple. Took a steering wheel puller and some 6mmx75mm bolts and tried to pull the sprocket off. No dice, the bolts where 8.8 and they stretched about 3mm. Anyways any body know where to get that sprocket. Im probly just gonna have to crack it off.

So i went to the good old 2X4 and steel pipe and put the 2x4 on the back of the oil pump and BEAT THE SHYT outta the oil pump and pushed the sprocket offYou get a GREAT workout from itI dont trust that oil pump anyway so i got another one coming

jmdser: Did you cut it off yet, or are you still thinking about doing it.

I am pretty sure it is that "half-moon" shaped crankshaft piece that is holding that sucker in there. It is identical to that half-moon shaped piece that is on the crankshaft where your crankshaft pulley mounted to. I would definitely try to rig up a crankshaft pulley remover. There are a few more methods to just "cutting it off". Let us know. Thanks.

BTW, I know that my engine sat for a while before I disected it, but mine just pulled right off by hand with NO force. That is just weird that yours is stuck on there......Oh well. Sorry you had that bad luck with it....

I had already taken that half moon key stock out. I tried using a puller a second time. This time I used grade 8 washers thinken that the fender washers I used the last time flexed too much. Nope, even put the impact on it. The bolts just started to strech and bend.So I took a center punch and made a mark between the notch for the keyway and the outside of the gear. I drilled holes starting with a 3/16 and working up untill the hole extended into the keyway and almost to the outside of the sprocket. With only about 0.1" between the hole and the outside of thesprocket I smoked it with a cold chisel and it slid right off. The end of the crankshaft is all rusted, but other than that shaft looks good. Now I just need to find a crankshaft sprocket, fast.

whats wrong w/ getting it through rbmotoring? i have had good experiences with them. i have ordered a few (engine bearings, clutch fork pivot ball, transmission front cover, arp studs) things from them. give them the p/n and they should be able to order it. their prices are marked up about 10% from dealer, so not TOO horrible. try speaking to Ken, he is a good guy. call them first, don't email.

good luck w/ it.

Also, a few people have recommended trying Venus-Auto too. They may not have it, but sometimes they have been known to order parts from Japan. If need be, I can talk to my source in Japan.

I called and talk to a couple of different people at rbmotoring. I ordered a timing belt tensioner and idler pulley for them about two month ago. I called them a month after I place the order to see if they could add the crankshaft sproket to the order and was told to email. I never got a response.

Well, from personal experience with them, I do know that the get busy from time to time, and their response times suffer from this.

I would definitely try to get a hold of them by phone and TELL them that you did email them, but it has been some time since you have heard back, which is unusual. Believe me, as said above, RBMotoring is probably your best guaranteed route for this item. I tried contacting my guy in Japan, but he is away in China for business for the next couple of weeks. Let us know how it goes...

Well, after searching all the places I could think of I finally called RBmotoring. I usually don't give companies a second chance with customer service, but I guess sometimes its just who you talk to. I didnt get a name, but the guy I talked to appollogized for my last order taking so long before I said anything about it. Ordered the spocket for me today, $35 shipped. Said they've seen the same thing on some of the pullies and sprockets on the RB26.

I know how you feel, waited like 4 months for my tensenor and idler pully from them. I didn't give them any money tho. Just paid them when it came in.

What really sucks is that Im done. My motor is in, incooler on, wiring done, Im just waiting on that sprocket. If anybody knows where I could get one, please let me know. Oh, and the first time I called to check to see when It would be in they told me they had forgot to order it. No reason, no sorry, no we'll ship it for free. Just it'll be here in two week. That was three weeks ago.

I waited 3 months for bearings and gaskets from them. Then when i got it they sent the wrong gasket. I would never order anything from them that they'd have to order from Japan. However I've had no problems recieveing instock parts.

If you use the pry method be VERY VERY careful of the back housing as it is aluminum and not that sturdy as I found out as I was just about done prying it off when the housing cracked. lol

I got it off using a variety of things, PB blaster and heating it up and using various things to get leverage on it.

I started with two long sturdy screw drivers and got it going a little, then switched to heating sprocket up and then method below.

THe best thing I found was using a claw hammer and using the back end of it and propping it against the block at various angles and hitting that with a 10lb sledghammer. Pretty much took it right off.
