How's it going guys. I just recently bought a 94 na z32 that had the crank pulley bolt work its way out. Now I got a new pulley, bolt, and key way. I'm new to the Z so I was hoping someone can inform m the tq. specs on the pulley and what I need to look out for when installing it.

It should be fairly easy to do with the motor still in the car. Just don't force anything and take your time. It may need to be very carefully tapped on with a rubber mallet when you get all the key ways lined up. Here's a link to the FSM with torque specs:

Have you turned the motor over by hand? If the belt worked its way off, then you could have motor damage. I doubt that is the case or your covers would be toast. However, the crank damper pulley is what keeps the belt on the pulleys. I would, at a minimum, pull the covers off and inspect everything to make sure the belt didn't get damaged.

DId the guy run it for any length of time after the pulley fell off? If so, did it over heat? The water pump is turned by a belt off the crank damper pulley.

If it were me, I would do a 120k kit before I put the new pulley on. I believe the torque is 180 ft/lbs. and can be a PITA to get off without air tools.

The car runs very smoothly. The suspension is hot so it feels like I'm driving a 78 Caddy lol, but that's no issue. There is a slight wobble with the crank shaft pulley at idle, but as soon as it revs it smooths out. The pulley is a little different then what was originally on the car same as the woodruff key.I had to do some slight welding to the Crank where the original key put a small gash in it while it sheared off. Should I be concerned about this slight wobble?

In reality yes, a slight wobble on the front of the crank could turn into a DSM-sized crank walk issue.

could it be bc the pulley maybe from a different year Z? It only has a slight wobble at idle.
Here is a video I took http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4fQIcVgeVuY you can notice a slight wobble, but Its more noticeable in person.

I don't know man, if its that noticable (I can see it wobble without concentrating) it might be an issue. do you know if the wobble is because of the brank or the pulley? BTW all crank pulleys for all years of the Z are exactly the same form TT to TT and NA to NA, difference between those 2 is that the NA has 3 grooves on one of the belts and the TT has 4.

Brank? That went right over my head lol. There is def. a difference in appearance between the two pulleys and the woodruff key was a different size.

I'm going to take it back apart, but I do know the key was straight...Here is a pic of the old pulley. You can see where the inside was walloped out. Image

Yeah dude you got a problem there, I've never seen a big heavy pulley like that on a VG30DE get damaged like that, you sure like absolutely sure your crank isnt bent at least on the front end?

It's not bent, Im assuming that when the bolt worked itself loose it sheared the woodruff key so between that and it wobbling on the bolt I can see how the pulley could look like that. The motor itself has no vibration which shouldnt be the case if the crank was bent, wobbling, or unbalanced. I'm taking it to a shop Thursday so hopefully I'll get it fixed, if not I'll be WTB a used motor....So if anyone knows of one for sell let me know :)

Hopefully there is nothing terribly wrong and its just misaligned ATM. A few of the guys here have had their Zs meet their fate so ask around in general, depending on where you are you could get a hold of the owner and see where they went or talk to 300zxTTman, he's got a salvage yard and can probably help you find one.
