How easy is it to replace a crankshaft pulley on 99 I30. Are there any instructions on how to do this. Other than the harmonic balancer puller, what tools do I need.

Thanks

It's really simple. Remove the belts. Remove the crank pulley bolt (you'll probably need an impact wrench). Then use the puller to remove the pulley. The engine is internally balanced, so you don't have to worry about that. Then reinstall everything. It may also be a good idea to replace the front crank shaft oil seal while you have the pulley off (you can get the seal from the dealer).

Page EM-25 shows the removal. Page EM-33 shows the reinstall. http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/i30/1999/em.pdf

I'm trying to replace the harmonic balancer on my i30 and I don't really understand what to do with the woodruff key. I do not see it in any diagrams but I got one with my new balancer
