I am a noob to imports.I am thinking about buying a friend's 95 240sx 5 spd. 110K on the body. No telling on the engine. Code reader said P0110 and P0335. After resetting the codes, P0335 crankshaft position sensor came back but the air temp did not. This is not the original engine but it is supposed to be a salvage yard replacement. Car runs and idles ok. It has sat for over a year and I have only driven it approx 2 miles. It seems to run ok. Where is the sensor? What do I need to do? Buying a factory manual is first on the list. He says the car has a cat but it smells like it does not. Maybe it just needs a replacement. Thanks for any help.Eric

the crank sensor refered to in p0335 is not the REAL crank sensor. its the little one in the bellhousing of the transmission. that sensor is used only for misfire diagnosis and does not control anything. i would not worry too much about that sensor. i have seen many s14's with that code that do just fine. like i said the ecm does not change the fuel or spark based on that sensor.

Thank you for the quick reply. In Texas (probably many other places if not all), the check engine light can not be on when you get the car inspected and they run it on a dyno. Does the sensor fail often? Does replacing the sensor make a difference? Do you know how I can test the sensor? Can you be more specific on the location of the sensor on the bell housing?

Well, well, well, I guess it doesn't work very well when it is not plugged in! I also found what looks like an air hardline not connected on the passenger side of the back of the engine.

Thanks

if you are under the transmission looking forward to the front of the car you can look up at the transmission bellhousing and the sensor will be at the top on the left. you will have trouble seeing it but it is there. you can also see it from the top if you look at the transmission in the area by the master cylinder. if the engine has been replaced there is a good chance the sensor was damaged. it sticks down by the flywheel and if you remove the transmission with the sensor still in you can bust it.

I'm trying to find where it plugs in now.

Ok. I got the EGR tube hooked back up.The loose plug I found starts at the top left of the transmission, has approx 10" harness and a grey 3 pin plug with a blue plastic center. I can not see a socket for it to plug into. *Found it on a harness running down the passenger side of the transmission. There is also a rubber line running from the rear or lower are of the car up the transmission, connecting to a hardline 1/4" diameter that is shaped like a U that may be missing a connection. Not the best description I know.

Not a bad first day with my 240 since I haven't even paid for it yet: reconnected EGRreconnected crankshaft position sensorbolted k&N bracket downtightend loose fitting on intake tubediscovered that some jackass cut the O2 sensor wires off the sensor. I'll get a new one in the morning. Erased /fixed two CEL codesreassembled plastic over ignition switchreroute mis-run airbag harness from dash to steering wheel

Thanks to s13sr20chris for helping me out!Eric

Did you get this all completed? the U shape hose you saw is the transmission vent tube, its not suppose to hook to anything.

The only thing I did not get done is replacing the rear O2 sensor. Pepboys, O'reilley's, AZ, don't stock them. Dealer says Tuesday. I am not getting an O2 error even though there is no rear sensor connected and there is an empty socket on the harness attached to the transmission across from the O2 location. I'm a Mustang guy and on those, you will get an error code without and O2 sensor.

[/quote]You should get an o2 code but the way the early rear o2 worked it is entirley possible you wont see a code pop up for quite some time if at all
