Ok...I got a code read at Advanced Auto...They said I needed to replace the crankshaft positon sensor...So I bought a new one...Ok...No mechanics know anything about my car...So I went and bought a Chiltons repair manual on it...And turns out...My car didn't have one...That's right...It didn't have a crankshaft position sensor...And I can not find the wire to plug it into the new sensor...Can someone help me...My car gets worse every day!! I think the mechanics that put my clutch kit in...Took the sensor out cuz they knew I would go to them to ask to get it fixed!!! It's bull****...Someone help me so I can do this job on my own!

Hey, I am having the same sensor going off and I'm not sure what to do about it. I already searched and this is the only post I could find on the subject, although I realize that it is more of a "KA" forum sort of thing, but this is where the original post was.

I have a relatively low mileage (69k) KA in my '98 S14, so I don't know why I'd be having crank walk or anything like that. It's a completely stock engine aside from an intake. Can anyone help me out with troubleshooting this?

Thanks.

The mechanic took the sensor and forgot to put it back... It happens.

When you drop the transmission you have to unplug the CPS sensor otherwise you will have a really hard time getting the transmission back in.

Just talk to the mechanic and tell him that your CPS isn't even plugged in. He will know that he forgot.

Well, the CEL has been on since I got the car (just a bit over a month ago), so I don't know what mechanic unplugged it or why they would have been removing the transmission in the first place.

Is there any way that I can do this myself?

Thanks for the info so far, much appreciated.

It's not that hard. I believe it's the middle of your engine by the firewall. Make sure your car is cold otherwise youll get burned like I did.

it might be easier to do it under the car.

Thanks man.

I've actually got access to a lift and anything else I'd ever need, so I can probably handle this.

Thanks for the info.
