Heres what I have. s13 sr20det

So long story I had a crank pulley fly off my car and it broke the tip off of the crank that guides it on/keeps it in place.

there is a channel where the piece use to be. So am I out of luck or what? I couldn't find the pulley because it flew off into the trees and it went high, I saw it fly off into the distance. I know I can get another one. So my question is is it possible to fix this without replacing the whole crank? Can I put another pulley on without fixing this? I know i wouldn't be able to time it probably but I know its already in time. And they go on pretty tight so i doubt that it would be able turn even if the that tab was gone. So please let me know what you guys think. If I have to go with a new/used crank i'm going to have to junk the car plain and simple. So please some input!!

you can get a new wooddruf key from nissan but you need to make sure the crank didnt get chewed up and that the threads in the crank are still good...else its time for a new crank.

I honestly have no idea how the hell the bolt got loose because thats all I can guess. The bolt got loose and the pulley backed off. A few of the threads were flattened but I have an extra one from a KA and they are identical. I screwed the good one in and it seems fine. I put my finger in it as far as I could and didn't feel any messed up threads either. Can I also replace the piece that the woodruf key goes into? The one with the threads going into it? I ask because there is a slight marking where the woodruff key left forcibly. I'd imagine a new woodruff key would fit fine but I don't want to take any chances with this. I need it fixed right the first time around. And do I need a special tool to install the woodruf key?

And also the motor was running after the pulley left. I'm the one who shut the motor off so I'd imagine the crank is good. The only other thing that got taken out was the front main seal so I'd have to replace that while i'm at it.

you should be fine, the only thing the key is for is to keep the pulley from spinning on the nose of the crank, and to make sure the pulley is in the right position for balance. if it chewed up around the key smooth it out with some sandpaper, or a file.
