Hi guys,I'm looking for some experienced opinions on light weight crankshafts.
How much weight should be counterbalanced to not have excessive bearing wear?I am working on an engine to rev quickly but I want there to be adequate counterweights as to not wear the main bearings out quickly. I have seen some race cranks that have very minimal counterweights but then when you look at OEM crankshafts there are huge counterweights. How do I determine the proper amount of counterweight needed as to not eat through the bearings instantly?
I am looking to spin this crank to 8500+ RPMs and would like to reduce the amount of rotating mass as much as possible but still be able to put miles on the engine.
Thanks guys!OTM
