Alright, so check this out...the FSM confuses me as I'm sure it does many. The FSM state's the specifications for the main and conrod journal grade's are engraved/pressed on the first counterweight of the crankshaft, which they are. The FSM states that there are 2 sets of numbers. The top row (of 7) is for the main sizes, obviously...and the bottom row (of 6) is for the conrod sizes. My predicament is my top row is not numbers, instead it is letters. The top row is CCBCBBB and the bottom row is 011111. The numbers i understand, but the letters throw me off. Is B=2 and C=3? The only reason i'm asking this question is because the machinist I've taken my crankshaft to needs all the specifications he can get in order to do the work i need done. Preciate it folks.

Tell your machinist to quit being lazy and mic the journals. If he says he can't then grab your parts and run as fast as you can to a different machine shop.

understandable...but no matter what those markers say, the crank should be mic'd and everything plastigauged to make sure clearances are proper
