There are like six marks on the pulley. I am assuming that the bigger deeper mark is for TDC. Is this correct? Thanks in advavnce.James

use the second mark from the left. should have some yellow paint on it. I have a question to ask though for anyone. Once the oil pump/ front cover is put on a sr..there is no way for the timing chain to skip links due to those two aluminum posts sticking out around the timing chain am I right....I'm guessing they are there to prevent this. For example... if the timing chain slips while installing the cam gears onto the cams... there is no way for it to move a link or two @ the crank due to the slack hitting those guards?

jgauspohl, nice thread jack.

240sxgt, yeah second from the left.

jgauspohl, back to your question, yes if you pull the cam sprockets off, and let the chain fall, it can fall out of spec down below. Don't ask how I know.
