I'm working on getting my crank pulley off because I'm taking the timing cover off, but I'm having a little trouble breaking it loose. The motor is out of the car sitting on my garage floor, with no transmission attached. Whats the best way to lock the motor to get the pulley off?

Let's see if this helps you out any. I made the mistake of pulling an engine without loosening that bolt first once.I picked up a few 3" grade 8 bolts at a hardware store with the correct pitch as the stock flywheel bolts. I threaded the 2 bolts into the crank shaft, across from each other, leaving about 1.5" exposed.I then ran a long piece (about 2 foot long) of steel pipe between the 2 bolts so that when I began lossening the pulley bolt the pipe locked onto the floor. The 2 bolts wedged the crank to keep it from spinning, and my brother sat on the engine and made sure nothing flew off the back end.It only took me a couple firm steady pulls to break the bolt free. That's kind of the trick. Grab your breaker bar and be steady, don't jerk or yank on the breaker.

I had mine in an auto transmission on my car, so i had almost the same problems.

I let penetrating oil sit on it for a few hours then just impact gun.

Worked great, off almost instantly. And for my other engine I had out of a car, I had my buddy on one side of the motor with a breaker bar, and me on the other side witha breaker bar. That popped it off

Okay thanks. I was getting ready to try something along the lines of what gumby said.

Is there anywhere on the internet to find the torque specs to put together a KA24E?
