OK, i went to torque down my crank pulley today, but no go. the crank just spins.

Parking break is on and working. (I torqued my axle bolts so I know they work)Car is in gear

I also installed a HKS GP Pro Twin Plate clutch, SPL Pivot, and the slim twin plate throwout bearing.

What did I screw up?

Look at the slave and see if the clutch fork is moving as it sould...Or you can hit the crank pulley bolt with the inpact.

actually as you were typing that i was outside taking the dust boot off. everything looks fine as near as I can tell. the clutch fork moves as it should and appears to be sitting where it should be. i even removed the clutch slave and moved the throw out bearing all the way back and tried it and the crank still turned.

am i missing something?

I know the transmission works, as it is the same one I had bolted up to my old sr20 and the shifts feel fine. so it either has to be where the main transmission drive gear interfaces with the clutch disk or something wrong with the clutch.. either the clutch disks are not touching or there is something wrong with the mating surfaces?

Could this just be because the clutch needs to be broken in?

well i looked into the bellhousing through the clutch fork hole, and the transmission input shaft is not spinning, so for some reason the clutch disks are not engauging. I am 90% sure that I put everything together properly.

Is this is what I get for not resurfacing the flywheel and center section after replacing both clutch disks?

If the discs aren't engaging, it's a pressure plate issue. I'm not familiar with twin disc setups, but do they have a definite forward facing side? If so, it's possible it's on backwards and that's preventing it from engaging.

It could be that the pressure plate was cocked when it went on and while the bolts tightened down, it didn't sit correctly, so it's allowing the discs to spin freely.

These are all just speculation though.

ok i got my cams on and installed them, i didn't want to move the crank around to much without them in. turns out, it is working, it just slips a tiny amount first then it grips solid.
