I have the unorthodox stock diameter lightweight crank pulley that I want to get installed but when looking at the original pulley attached to the harmonic balancer it looks like one piece.

Does the harmonic balancer come off with the original pulley? or does it stay where it is?

I believe it is one part. On my other car the crank pulley and balancer were one. Unless you have a balanced crankshaft the factory pulley helps to keep vibrations to a minimal. As far as engine longevitity is concerned removing the balancer causes additional rotatio al load on the bearings. Unless you're building a blueprinted engine for high compression high rpm apps the factory pulley is a better option. From a performance perspective your engine will rev quicker. You pick the poison.

I spoke with someone at Unorthodox earlier today. They clarified everything. The most important thing is that everything is tightened to the specifications they've listed. He also said it's important to change the front engine seal since the pulley is coming out. I went to Infiniti and they had it in stock for $13. Might as well. I'll keep you guys posted.
