Hey im new to forums ive looked through pretty good and cant seem to find anyone with this exact problem.

Heres the deal.

When i crank my car when it is already warmed up, (shut off after 30 minute drive, then proceed to try and start) it will start with a weak crank and then proceed to die. Everytime, without fail. The only thing that saves me is if i give it gas for 1-2 seconds, or if i have the Air conditioning, or heat on. I hooked it up to my buddies obd2 scanner and it pulled a crank position sensor, but my car only has 95k miles its a 96 s14. Also thought that it could be the idle air control valve, but i am a rookie ATM. haha but any ideas, help, or input is greatly appreciated. Thanks

so if the OBD2 scanner says "crank position sensor", have you swapped it with a known good one or looked through the FSM to determine the proper diagnosis for the sensor being bad? A lot can happen in 95,000 miles, so I don't think it's fair to assume it won't go bad in that time.

First let me say thanks for replying and trying to help. But no I haven't replaced it yet, I was hoping that someone might know something to try such as cleaning or something.
My check engine light has come on since i posted up, and i took it to the auto parts. They hooked it up to the obd2 and it gave me 3 codes.

Well after a search for the paper i wrote the actual codes on I still can not find it, but I know for sure one of things was the EGR Valve code, one was bad evaporation emissions? and another was bad auxilary emissions( the guy at autozone said he dont know what the hell it was, said he never heard of it.)

I've heard the egr valve can also affect idle, which is my main problem, the guy i bought the car from told me he ran it on the obd2 and it pulled the code for crank pos. sensor. This is why I didn't replace right away, I want to make sure it actually is bad.

also the guy seafoamed the car previous to me owning it, shortly before i bought it.

Ok, try checking all your lines running to and from your IACV and make sure there are no cracked or dry rotted hoses heading to or from the egr vaccums. and if none of that helps try checking your tps with an volt/ohms reader to make sure its working properly. And iff the CPS code is comming on and off make sure its connected good and that its not loose.
