Crank/No Start

Hello,

Clutch in, push start and engine cranks (until time out) but no start.

Seldom has to crank for more than a second or two when OK, so the cranking sounds are new to me.

Sounds somewhat labored with perhaps an occasional start attempt.

Just gave it a shot of starter fluid and now it cranks much more briskly with what sounds like a random attempt to fire, but start sequence times out.

Battery was on charge overnight and load tested OK at O'Reileys this morning. Terminals and battery connections are clean.

Nothing in search.

At 105k, car has been a gem and this is my first issue of significance.

Iridium plugs are original, but hard to believe they would all die together.

OK,really stumped. Picked up an iridium plug and had the wife hit start.

Good spark on the COP I pulled.

Two guys at different parts stores suggested crankshaft position sensor.

Hate to throw parts at it w/o a diagnosis.

Easiest fix ever!

Sensor is straight up, while on your back, about 1' back from front of car on the bottom of the bell housing.

$60 part.

What was odd was I was throwing big sparks and ether did not help.

Oh well. All is well .
