posted on another ka forum but want as many replies as i can get...

so i have my intake and exhaust manifolds off, installing fresh lines in many places and setting everything up for the turbo with oil feed and return and what not. when i took off the upper intake manifold i noticed a very small amount of oil sitting around where the crank case ventilation comes into the runners just before the head. the odd thing is that the ka has crank case ventilation coming to all 4 cylinders instead of just one. this makes me think that they want a little oil to get through and lube the intake area (valves and what not), but i have no idea. is that oil supposed to be there? i'm going to do a compression test again once it's all back together, but right now i'm kind of worried i have bad compresion and oil and sludge is getting blown up into the manifold as a result. someone tell me what's going on.

if i do have bad compression, well then i guess i'm just that much closer to getting an sr, but i really dont think that is the case. my ka pulls as strong or stronger than any one i've seen in stock configuration. i have a '92 with a supposedly rebuilt (not 100% sure but it runs like new) '95 engine, and i beat my friends '98 in a straight line race (and he has exhaust and other things done to add a little more power while i have everything stock).

That's just where the PCV system dumps its fumes and oil vapor, nothing to worry about.

I prefer to disconnect the whole PCV system (and juts have a vent tube on the PCV valve), but leaving it is fine, too.

This has NOTHING to do with bad compression, valve oiling, etc...

thanks for the reply. see i know it's just venting there but i usually don't see little oil build up, on most cars. also you rarely see crank ventilation going to all of the runners... it usually just goes to one cylinder. that's why i wondered if nissan purposefully wants a little oil to get through. in any case i may get an oil catch tank, or make one at home. i'm not sure though. i wonder about that dinky pcv valve under boost... i don't want to pressurize my crank case.
