I had the machine shop order some SR20DE crank bearings. I assembled the bottom end with all new ARP hardware "Main studs and Rod connecting bolts". Im getting really horrible binding issues when the crank is fully torqued. I used assembly lube on both sides of the bearings and I had the crank polished, balanced and straightened. So i know the crank is good and i ordered standard size bearings plus i TQ the mains in steps like your supposed 2 "i did this multiple times".

Basicly im asking if u can use SR20DE bearings in a SR20DET bottom end. At this point i can only think that the bearings are wrong. but i got standard size SR20DE bearings for a Crank that is in spec.

and because everyone like pictures, me at the last event

ARP main studs will distort the journals differently than OEM bolts. When you use ARP mains, you need the journals line honed with those studs, then use over sized bearings.

k, i dont wana sound like a d!ck but are u 100% sure about that. I mean im just using a different fastener so i don't understand how that would distort the journals when im using the same caps. I mean that would explain why the crank is binding.

I'm not saying ur wrong just trying to understand. I need this motor together ASAP because Formula D Pro/Am is coming up soon and i still need to break the motor in. I just wanted to make sure u were 100% sure.

Thanks for the help man Seriously

The studs have a higher clamping force, causing the distortion. You could torque to OEM specs, and maybe get away with it, but then what's the point of the studs?

I would double check and make sure you have the correctly sized bearings though.
