I use to use 180 foot cranes to lift me up in a flimsy metal basket to select tower locations..........sometimes hang from helicopters when cranes were too short.........till you have to decide between a 180 foot and a 220 foot tower......$15,000 price difference then almost $30,000 today.

You can't just add 20 or 40 feet.......must be designed right from beginning.

Towers 200 feet and above must have lights [extra operation costs and more land].

A lost art in this country finding a perfect spot...............SAFELY.

It looks almost as if the last crane dragged some people in!

My son, who sees everything on the Internet before I do, said that the last shot of the big crane falling in was not real. (Photoshopped.)

I agree with Jesda and mersidoe, people are missing along with a few more cars.

Upon further careful review, it is apparent that the last frame of the crane sequence is a PhotoShop job. The large green crane never really did fall into the water. If you closely examine the final frame in the sequence, and compare it to image0055.jpg, you will discover that the image of the green crane was PhotoShopped into image0055.jpg, placing it in such a position and rotation to look like it is falling into the water. There are several clues: First of all, NO FREAKING SPLASH! Second count the number of people observing the situation from shore and notice their positions. Third, count the boats and notice their positions, both on the near and far side of the jetty. The people and boats are identical to image0055.jpg. The obvious conclusion is that the base image for the final frame is image0055.jpg. Still pretty funny, though!

Still, it would have been hilarious if the second crane fell in and took some bystanders with it!

Err, I mean... tragic. Yeah.

Did you notice the first crane di not put out any stabilizers?

That operator should loose his license.
