I just got a cheap engine (400bucks for everything i wanted from the whole car) with 100000K (not miles) on it. I was able to test drive the car and the engine was ok, turbo was also ok (compared to my car which is basically unmoded). Now i'm parting the engine for a rebuilt(which is in good shape internally), when i was removing the exhaust elbow from turbo i was very surprised, there are two cracks around the wastegate (about half inch long), otherwise the turbo is in great shape(turbine wheels, bearings,no oil leakage), now i'm wondering if u could still use the turbo(without rebuilt, cause a friend of mine needs one bad). Somewhere i heard it is pretty common for garrett's getting cracks around the wastegate and its no big deal, is this true?

Nearly every turbo i've owned has had cracks around the wastegate, but i do have a T3 fitted though.

I've got an uncracked housing if you want it, make me an offer.

But I really don't see it being a problem, esp. if the cracks are all 'inside' the housing.

Thanx for the offer MOVINGVIOLATION240, but i only wanted to know if u could still use the turbo (i'll give this one to a friend anyway, and throw a bigger turbo on the engine after the rebuilt).
