crackling sound from the motor

That could be the engine pinging from using too low of octane fuel, ignition timing is off, or other things.

see if you can pinpoint the sound... I had that prob before and I thought it was pinging but it was actually pieces of my catalytic converter bouncing around (it eventually clogged my exhaust and I couldn't go anywhere. lol) took me a while to find exactly where the sound was coming from!
