Please help! I have a 2009 Murano that is 1.5 years old. When it was less than four months old, it began making a continual noise from the dashboard region. My kids say it sounds like Pop Rocks. It has been to the dealer several times for them too look into it, the last time being about six months ago where they said they took apart the dash, filled places with foam, and put it back together. The noise-free environment lasted for maybe a month before it started acting up again.

First, has anyone else had this problem? It is not a LOUD noise, per se, but loud enough that it's very annoying if there's no radio on. I might excuse this in a car that's many years old, but this is ridiculous.

Any ideas? I'm getting ready to call a different dealer for service, as I'm not too happy with my current service.

Thanks!

First off, welcome to NICOclub! Glad to have you here in the Murano Forum.

Sorry to hear about your annoying noise issue in your new Murano. I know this is not a common problem. I never had any sound issues with my '09 Murano, they are built rather well. My suggestion is to bring it to a different Nissan dealer. Certainly this can be addressed, no one wants to listen to errant pops coming from the dash of a brand new vehicle. Any good dealer should be able to locate and rectify the problem permanently. Good luck with this one, sorry I could not be more help!

Got the same thing...very annoying.

I'm not entirely convinced that it's not just because of the fact the interior in the 2009 Murano is so quiet that I now notice every little rattle, vibration, crackling, sound etc...

Got more important and pressing things going on then wasting time at a dealer trying to track down this demon. To date, no vehicle I've ever owned in my life has been anywhere near 100% noise free...and I consider myself pretty anal about them to begin with.

Until it literally drives me crazy, which it is not at that point to yet, I'll just choose to live with it.

BTW...great tip...turn the sound system UP!

Had this problem. It turned out to be a leaf caught in the area between the windshield and the hood. Open the hood and be sure the area just below the windshield is free of debris. Good luck.

I had the same issue. I was amazed at how much noise a single leaf could make!

Welcome to Nissan/Infiniti!!!

Wind noise, dash creaking/cracking, oil consumption, premature rotor warping, driver side seat rocking, cd changer malfunction, premature leather cracking, etc seem to be continual common problems with Nissan/Infiniti vehicles from year to year and model to model.

I know this post hasn't been active in a while. But I wanted to share that I recently got a 2010 Versa that was a Demo. I love it but it does rattles in the dash area near the radio. The problem seems to occurs when I haven't used it in a while and when it's cold. Like in the morning when I use it, it'll rattles for 10 minutes while I drive.

I had to go back to the dealership cuz the car is also doing a weird noise after it's started (but not all the time) and while there I asked them to take a look at it and they said they used to do something for 2007 to 2009 Versa (foam) but don't anymore. Kinda disappointing. I'll probably go back eventually and ask again, cuz this is really annoying. I'm half hoping it's cuz the car is fairly new and needs to adjust.. but if it keeps doing that, I'll prob go crazy.

So far, the dealership has been no help for both my problems.

I plan on changing the stereo soon, I'll def take a look in this area if sometimes looks loose. But the sounds is more like a crackling of the plastic so I dunno.

Any other people got something similar and got it fixed?

Mine does it too. It's worse when it's cold, and seems to come from where the windshield meets the cowl/dash area. I've noticed that water on the windshield seems to lubricate it and make the noise stop. I've actually had this small annoyance in a few cars I've had. Mine is not as sharp or frequent as pop rocks though!
