Anyb ody had troubles with the wood trim. Truck sits in heated garage mostly but has been outside in -20C at times.

I never had any issues with my '08 or my 2010, I am in Green Bay, WI and we have some very cold winters, mine too is always garaged. It could have had a small crack on the inside portion of the trim piece from day one, you never know. Should be easy to replace. I would check with the folks at www.courtesyparts.com to order a new piece.

I have had this problem in my 2004 QX56. When I bought it back in 2008, the center console (where the shifter is) had 2 or 3 long cracks in the clear coat that ran long ways. Also, the small wood trim piece on the rear passenger side door had a few long cracks. I asked my dealer to look into this and see if they would cover it under warranty. They tried to get Nissan to cover it but were unsuccessful. The new pieces are very expensive so I found a used, crack-free center console in the same wood trim color from a 2005 QX56 on eBay and had that installed. The cracked piece on the rear door is still there ...I will probably fix it at some point but I think that small piece alone was over $150 new from the online retailers. The cracks appear to be only in the clear coat over the wood and not in the actual wood itself. The only good thing that came out of this was that when my dealer was installing that 'new to me' center console, they found out that someone had wired in one of those wire harnesses to be able to watch DVDs on the Nav screen. When I bought the truck, I'm assuming the dealer disconnected this and hid the wiring down beneath the console (since it's not really legal). When my dealer found this, they called me and I told them to hook it back up. So now I have that working again and they installed a small toggle switch in that cubby area south of the shifter so I can switch back and forth between maps and DVDs in case red and blue lights show up behind me.

I had installed one of those AV units on my 2004 QX56. It sure is nice how on the '08 and newer models it is actually a much easier (and cheaper) modification. That is totally a nice find though, you will enjoy that!
