Driver side Rear Bumber cracked on the edge; someone hit me. quoted $650 for stock bumber to be replaced and painted. dont think it could be glued back together... is it worth getting a new stock one or should i just look into getting an after market body kit. if so..suggestions??

Well do you like any of the aftermarket rear bumpers?

I think we only have the ExtremeDimensions one and the AIT racing. Personally, I'd go for the stock bumper. And yes, fiber glass breaks/cracks easy.

If she has a $500 deduct like I do on my policy, then it's not even worth the trouble of the claim.

What they quoted you is right in line with what I got quoted for the Z's rear bumper (previous owner jacked up the area below the emblem using a heat gun to remove a dealer decal... UGH). They quoted me $500 for redoing my rear bumper (that is including the PITA hard to get 40th Anniversary paint, which would be a tad extra.)

They're basically charging you $100 for the paint, $250-ish for the bumper plus labor. Really not shabby. By the time you go for a GOOD aftermarket one and it gets prepped, fitted, and painted properly, you'll spend roughly the same amount.

The only company for the Altima I would go with for an aftermarket body kit is Stillen. You're going to spend more than $650 though, once it is all said and done. If you get that, you're going to want to do wheels and a drop - the car is going to look completely awkward with an aftermarket body kit and the OEM wheel setup.

Anyway - if I were you, I'd greenlight the OEM rear bumper repair and go about mods later on your own terms. But that's just my two cents. Good luck!

Thanks for the input I'm not sure that stillen had a body kit for the alt but ill look into it further. I was offered a duraflex one pretty cheap but I don't know much about them. And yes have a 500 deductible so it's def not worth it w insurance.

Thanks again!

i don't think stillen has a rear bumper replacement. i think all they have are rear corners that you would attach to an oem bumper. i would rather get the oem bumper over a duraflex or fiberglass one.
