Lowered my Versa a bit and continued to drive it around. Eventually it caught up to me and the oil pan cracked yesterday.. About to get it towed home today. Has anyone ever replaced an oil pan on a Versa before? Just wondering if it is something I can do myself to save some money.

ahh, well i ended up replacing the part myself, for anyone who may need info on the subject in the future. it was quite easy. i bought the oil pan from the dealer for $165. some places say that a gasket is required and will cost between $20 to $30, but the parts guy at nissan said that there is no gasket and to just use this sealant type of thing from the auto motive shop. the sealant cost about $8.

to replace the pan, i jacked up the car onto jack stands and removed the bolts that hold the oil pan in place. the pan was stuck on there pretty well, so i used a flat head screw driver to pry it off. once removed, i used a wide, flat scraper type of tool to remove the old gasket pieces. i then applied a bead of sealant onto the new oil pan (following the instructions on the box) and installed it, making sure not to tighten the bolts up too tight at first. after an hour passed, i hand tightened the bolts. i let 24 hours pass by to allow the sealant to fully cure and form a gasket, then i replaced the oil filter (might as well) and added new oil. A week has passed by and so far the new pan and gasket is holding up well.

good to know, thanks, i bought a spare oil pan when i slammed my V just incase.

just an fyi, the cube takes to exact same pan, but for some reason has a different part number, and it only cost $60 from nissan.

wth lol I appreciate that info! i might stock up on a couple extra pans to be safe now that i know i can get a better deal. i raised the versa half an inch cuz im scared to crack it again, but lately the roads in Hawaii have been getting pretty messed up and its been scraping much more frequently.
