I recently picked up an '89 240sx fastback, KA24e SOHC for $200, ah but there is a catch; it has a cracked head so i was told. I pulled the valve cover off and it looks like chocolate milk was used as oil. Now obviously this is because the oil, water and antifreeze mixed together. What i would like to know is if this is infact true what are the chances of my engine still being able to run? Because if it is not going to run I do not want to spend the money on a head. I have heard you can do a kerosene flush on the engine to get all of the gunk out of there, how effective is this? Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanx!:help

You will need a flush to get all the nestle quick out of there... then you will need to get the head sorted else your not going anywhere very far.

Do a compression test before you pull the head. After running chocalate milk, and probably overheating, you need to see if the rings are stuck. If you have very little compression you will probably need to buy new rings. After you see where you are at with the compression pull the head and do a visual on the cylinders.

It may be worth your time to just pull the whole motor and install a another complete motor from a salvage yard. I don't know about where you are from but out here you can get good reletively low mileage KA's all day long for less than 500 bucks(got mine for 350), but 4-5 hundred was the average. IF you are worried about the motor you have being jacked then this may be a good option for you.
