if you can't find any dashes in good condition, you can cover it up w/ a dashmat, custom molded/colored/etc to your specs. Those run about $50-$80 depending what options you want.

I had a gray velour one w/ a corvette symbol :-D on my car for a while. Looks decent.

there are vinyl repair kits all over the internet. just search a bit and you will find something. i am having to do the same thing cause i just got a small crack in mine. as far as i understand repairs on dashes are fairly simple when it's just a crack and it looks good too. repair kits are like $20 probably

Permatex Dashboard and Vinyl Top repair kit- $11 something at autozone.

I guess you get what you pay for though- it looks like total sh-- on my dash, like colored putty. Maybe I haven't been doing it right- anybody else try this?

I sanded the crack down, and about a half inch surrounding it, with 220, then 400 (but only a little sanding). I filled the crack with that adhesive, although I doubt that did any good, because the crack is too slim for that crap. Then I did up the paint + hardener, a super-thin layer, smoothed it over the sanded parts and the crack. Then, did the heat tool. Now, the 'new' vinyl is not blending in with the old dash; instead, it has lips around the edge and looks like crap.

Anybody else try this stuff?

I hope you have a lot of money or time if you don't want to buy a used dash. Basically, other than covering it up w/ a mat like I said before, your only good solution is to basically fiberglass the dash or something similar.

Using vinyl repair usually doesn't help but makes it look bad like APCdude said.

Unless you know how to fiberglass yourself, be prepared to spend several benjamins if you can find a place that will do it. I'm looking into doing that now, but for some custom gauge/mounting applications.

fiberglassing is easy but that stuff is so toxic and smells like crap. i hate working with it but i would rather do it myself with a resperator instead of paying someone else to do it...so vinyl repair is just crap all around? i've never used that stuff before so i'm just curious. the reason i am not interested in buying another used dash is because this was a replacement for my brown dash. it cracked because the fitment of a different dash is generally different from the original and so it gets stretched and then bakes in the sun and cracks. so buying another one will probably just be a waste of money.
