I'm about to get a used carbon fiber hood for my kouki for a decent price. My current hood is dented in the front (thanks to an SUV) and I figured this would be a perfect time to replace/repair/repaint. Yes I plan to paint the whole hood to color match my car. But the carbon fiber hood has "spidering" cracks and noticeable wear near the edges of the hood itself, can't tell if its through the clear coat or the fiber weaves. Here's a pic:

Is this repairable? Now, if don't plan to do this myself, say, bring it to a body shop....how much would this cost for repair/repaint roughly? Suggestions?

you are just going to paint over it right?
if so i would say just sand through the paint and gel coat until you get to the actual carbon. then you should get some fiberglass mat and soak it in resin and apply it on top of the cracks try to push it into them. there should be enough fiberglass to cover the longest crack plus like 2 inches. then sand it down and apply body filler if needed to smooth it out.

this is how i fix my fiberglass bumper. i have successfully bonded carbon fiber to fiberglass before though and it was the same.
if you try this good luck and patience is the key! haha

Thanks for the suggestion, that sounds like a good idea actually. But now that I think of it, I'm probably gonna take it to a body shop. I really don't care about the CF look, and yes I would paint the whole hood for a color match for a clean look.

Question is, does anyone have experience fixing a CF hood even with a damaged fiber weave, and then painting on top of it? Would that prevent future cracks from the crack that was already there?

my friend had a cracked cf hood repaired with bondo... the bondo began to sink in and now his hood looks ugly.
