Me and my friend, between the two of us, have a sr20 block and a ca head. We're thinking of putting them together and making a frankinstien motor just for the fun of it. If any one likes this idea, or has any ideas that would help, let me know. Just fishing for ideas!

Different bores, different timing gear (chain vs. belt), different water pump drives...the list goes on.

FYI you are about to be flamed and this thread will get locked eventually. Just suffice it to say it is a pipe dream, and a poor one at that. The aluminum block of an SR is no benefit as it has ductile iron sleeves and is no lighter or easier to modify (ie you have to resleeve to increase bore). Just stick with the motor that you chose and move on with your life.

PS: Frankensteins are for Hondas. Nothing wrong with that, but that is just the truth.

An almost smart idea, but i think you should have tried mounting the head on the block before starting a thread. I think it would have served a much higher purpose.

This thread is like a donkey show; so wrong, but I can't help but watch.

Waste of time and money. If you were to really set out and make it happen.

Why don't you put that extra CA head and SR Block on ebay and make a couple bucks instead of pissing away cash.

I see you have a s12......are you on club s12? Think we're the only two s12 members in the state......there was a guy that was doing a ca-det swap in a s12 that lived in Hartselle area....no idea if he ever finished the swap, or if he is still around though

hey! you live in Birmingham! If I ever need any quick help, I think I'll shoot you an email.

I live in Alabaster/Maylene, if you know where that is. If not, it's about 15 minutes outside of Hoover.

Cool yeah.....hit me up, I'm in Trussville. Started removing parts today, so I can pull the head and replace my HG, install my custom top mount header, and new turbo

Yep, I got myself an S12 to drive while I'm rebuilding the Pulsar. Once I'm finished with that I'll probably throw a CA18 into the S12
